Gareth Bale has been confirmed as the UK cover star for FIFA 14, EA Sports has announced.
The Tottenham attacker joins Barcelona’s Lionel Messi on the box art, and follows in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Hart.
Bale will also serve as an EA Sports Football ambassador.
EA Sports captured Bale’s free kick technique via motion capture and this will feature in FIFA 14. Bale was also filmed performing a series of athletic drills, passes and shots to capture his likeness.
Arturo Vidal of Juventus and Mexico’s Javier “Chicharito” Hernández have also been named as cover stars.
FIFA 14 will be released for current generation platforms on September 27, with PS4 and Xbox One editions expected at the new console launches.
Bale’s appearance on the cover in a Spurs shirt will please Tottenham fans who hope the player of the year will remain at the club despite interest from Real Madrid.
