GAME is to kill off the Gameplay brand, shutting down the official site on March 1.
The troubled retailer has also begun moves to close 35 of its outlets. There are currently 610 UK stores using the GAME or Gamestation brand, and this will be cropped to 550 by Christmas next year.
From the start of next month, visitors to Gameplay.co.uk will be redirected to Gamestation instead. Registered Gameplay customers have been sent a £5 voucher for the latter as a sort of tragic goodbye gift.
Gameplay was acquired by GAME in 2004. Rest in peace!
