UK video game chain GAME is set to make £20 million by the end of this financial year and claims it is in “good shape” despite the collapse of electronics giant Comet, both of which are owned by OpCapita.
GAME boss Martyn Gibbs told The Sunday Telegraph: “I have all the cash I need to trade through peak [period]. There has been nothing that I tabled that I didn’t get investment for. I can’t ask for more.”
So successful has the GAME turnaround been that the retailer has maintained its market share at around 35 per cent, despite halving its store count to 333. The closures have resulted in cost-cutting to the sum of £17 million.
