GAME stores will not be stocking the Nintendo distributed Wii RPG The Last Story, reports MCV.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that The Last Story Limited Edition would not be stocked, but it has now been revealed that there will be no stock of the regular edition too. The game has also been removed from the GAME and Gamestation websites.

Customers who have pre-ordered the game have been notified.

Given the precarious position GAME finds itself in – selective spending on new releases is now needed in the wake of credit insurance problems – the decision not to stock a JRPG on Wii shouldn’t be seen as the beginning of the end for the retailer.

Likewise, failure to stock Ubisoft’s Vita launch titles, is not a major omission when analysing the potential sales of the titles – Rayman Origins wasn’t a huge success on home consoles, whilst Lumines isn’t likely to appeal beyond a small niche of gamers.

However, should the retailer fail to secure stock of major releases such as Syndicate or the imminent Mass Effect 3 the situation should be considered grave.
