A number of GAME and Gamestation stores have already closed following the GAME Group’s entry into administration this morning, reports MCV.

A number of stores including the flagship Gamestation store in Birmingam are believed to have shut up shop, with confirmed closures expected to reach the hundreds as administrators look to trim the business with the hope of selling off what remains.

GAME’s Oxford Street Store in London is reported to still be trading.

The GAME and Gamestation websites have also shut down, with a message confirming administrators have taken over.

“MJA Jervis and SD Maddison have been appointed as Joint Administrators of The GAME Group plc, Game Stores Group Limited, Gameplay (GB) Limited, Game (Stores) Limited, Games Station Limited, Game (Retail) Limited and Gamestation Limited on 26 March 2012, to manage their affairs, business and property as their agents and without personal liability.

“We are currently reviewing and processing orders placed on this website.

“MJA Jervis and SD Maddison are licensed in the United Kingdom to act as insolvency practitioners by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.”

An open letter to customers has been published on the GAME Facebook page.
