For e-Sports to become a fully global phenomena, developers need to enable third world inhabitants to take part, according to League of Legends e-Sports champion Max Dreysse.
In an interview with MMORPG, Dreysse stated how he wished e-Sports would grow in the future, stating:
“I guess a far nobler thing to wish for would be to give more people the chance to try themselves on playing competitive games.
“As of right now computer games are a first-world only phenomena. If we were to enable third world inhabitants to enjoy nerding, we would grow a lot closer to what soccer is: A real global sport.”
e-Sport competitions are continuously growing in popularity. Recently Blizzard announced it will hold both the 2011 Global battle.net Invitational and the 2011 Global StarCraft 2 League e-Sports competitions at this year’s Blizzcon.
