Funcom has merged a number of its servers for MMORPG Age of Conan, a move which has lead to fears over the health of the game.

In a post over at the official Age of Conan forums, senior community manager Oliver ‘Tarib’ Kunz announced plans for a raft of server merges.

The combined number of servers will now total 18 (US six, Europe 12), down from 49.

While some commentators have taken the server merge as evidence of the decline of the MMO, which released to much fanfare and positive reviews in May last year, fans have applauded the move, delighting in the prospect of a more populated game experience.
