Square Enix has announced that Front Mission Evolved, developed in collaboration with Double Helix Games, will now be released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 17, 2010. The game had previously been scheduled for a spring debut.

Front Mission Evolved is a third-person shooter in which players take control of the Wanzer, a massive humanoid, fully customizable war machine.

Larry Sparks, Vice President Brands PAL Region of Square Enix, commented: “We’re excited to be releasing this intense new chapter in this classic franchise and invite existing fans and gamers new to the series to enjoy all the action that Front Mission Evolved has to offer.”

Front Mission Evolved is set in a future world in which technology has advanced and countries have merged into massive geopolitical blocks. Humanity’s appetite for war, however, remains the same. When a terrorist attack destroys one of the U.C.S.’s prized orbital elevators, the military is mobilised to eliminate the threat.

In addition to a story-driven single-player mode, Front Mission Evolved will also allow players to head online and battle against other players, in teams or solo. The PC version will also support Nvidia 3D Vision technology.
