Fortnite X Mayhem is the latest crossover event to touch down in the battle royale, and will bring Borderlands themed boons to the battlefield.

As detailed on the Gearbox news blog, a Pandora Rift Zone has appeared on the Fortnite map that will turn the area into a desolate, cel-shaded stage. The treasure chests now look like the classic green loot boxes, and the Psycho Bundle cosmetic pack will let players shed their sensibilities with the Psycho Bandit Outfit.

Claptrap makes an appearance as a Pet strapped like a backpack to the player, so there is really no getting away from the robot’s useful quips and stellar jokes. The Psycho Buzz Axe is a new melee weapon, but as usual, afford no bonus advantage in combat or harvesting materials. Given that Gearbox and Epic Games have partnered to release Borderlands 3 as an Epic exclusive, a promotional crossover event is to be expected.

If Fortnite players buy Borderlands 3 on the Epic Games store, they will receive the Psycho Bundle for free when the new game launches. If they’ve preordered it, then the cosmetics are automatically added. Seeing that in-game items drum up their share of… enthusiastic discussion, this is a smart endeavour. And, it gives players the opportunity to display their devotion to the Children of the Vault, while springing off the shaky walls of Pandoran shacks.

Borderlands 3 will release on September 13. Watch the Fortnite X Mayhem trailer below.
