Fortnite developer Epic Games has lifted the curtains on its latest title update for the perpetually popular shooter, with version 5.40 adding High Stakes into the mix.

You might remember that High Stakes was teased at PAX West over the weekend, where it was revealed players will be able to zip around the map using a nifty gadget called the Grappler. Well, that's now up for grabs, alongside a bunch of other additions for both Battle Royale and Save the World.

As previously mentioned, High Stakes revolves around a new Limited-Time Mode called the Getaway, which coughs up rewards for completing various challenges. It has a heist feel to it and comes with a new outfit.

Save the World meanwhile has added Horde Challenge 5, with sees enemy Husks packing increased health and a nasty knockback ability. Harvester Fiona also joins the fray, wielding some handy smoke bombs in battle.

As with every Fortnite update, Epic has ironed out various bugs to keep things ticking over, so read up on them here.

Sony recently touched on the lack of cross-play in Fortnite between Xbox One and Switch users, and apparently doesn't think it's necessary as it reckons PS4 is the 'best place to play.'
