On Friday morning, Epic Games brought back Zapotron, the rarest Fortnite weapon of all time. The game developer teased its return on X (formerly Twitter) the night before, and the item was unvaulted at 9 AM ET. Now, it’s available for a limited time, and you can see what the type is all about!

Despite not being in the game for a long time, Zapotron has gone through a couple of changes. Its first version, which was only available for a brief period, was much more powerful. However, this is the reason why Epic vaulted it, as the weapon was considered overpowered at the time.

Zapotron is now available in Fortnite once again

Zapotron was first added in September 2017, as it was available exclusively in Supply Drops. Interestingly, there seems to be only one video of the weapon early on, as it was quickly vaulted. The weapon was able to one-shot players, and Epic Games quickly removed it from the game.

Epic unvaulted the rarest weapon on February 14, 2025, bringing it back to the OG mode. The weapon was available for three days, but its damage was decreased from 50 to 28. The charge multiplier was doubled as well, and it used Heavy Bullets instead of Energy Cells.

Epic Games nerfed the rarest Fortnite weapon once again, and these are its current stats:

StatValue
DPS25
Damage25
Magazine size4
Fire rate1
Reload time2.07s
Structure damage1,000

While it deals considerably less damage than its original variant, Zapotron is still strong. It’s especially devastating against structures, which makes it a must-have weapon in classic mode. The weapon will stay in the game until August 24 and will only be available in the Fortnite OG mode.
