Turner Tenney, more popularly known within the Fortnite gaming community as Tfue, has announced that he will be taking an indefinite hiatus from content creation after feeling “trapped” for years due to the exhausting streaming schedule that he’s subjected himself to over the past few years. Tenney noted that he doesn’t know if he’ll be back because he just needs “time to get away to live his life.”

Tfue’s heartfelt video, which was simply entitled “Goodbye…”, was posted through his official YouTube channel and it contained his personal message along with a montage of his content highlights through the years. He starts off the clip by telling his viewers that “it’s been a long journey.” “25 years old, I’ve been doing this since I was a kid. I feel like my childhood and even some of my adulthood kind of [got] flushed away, but I feel like this is the end of the journey,” he continued.

He also mentioned that early on in his career, he “used gaming to escape from reality.” After several years of streaming, however, his passion eventually turned into a job and he now uses “reality to escape from work” instead.

He would go on to say that “it’s been f***ing hard, streaming like six, eight hours a day. I don’t have time to do sh*t.” “I’m 25 and I feel like majority of my life has been in front of a screen. I wouldn’t take it back for the world, but I just feel like I need a break. I just need to escape for a little bit,” he continued.

This obviously comes as a big blow to the Fortnite community as the decision of Tfue to take an indefinite hiatus means the loss of one of the most consistent and entertaining professional players in the game’s recent history. Only time will tell if he’ll take up the streaming mantle once again, but, for now, we’ll just have to make do with the slew of highlights he’s given us throughout the years.
