Epic Games has listened to the community and released a crucial hotfix for the new Fortnite Chapter 7 mechanic. For the first time in more than eight years, Epic experimented with a new entry method at the start of the match. The Battle Bus was removed from the game, and players had to surf to the island. However, this mechanic initially received poor feedback, which is why the game developer changed it.
This recent change addresses one of the biggest complaints players had about the new season’s start. Thanks to the update, the waves will launch you significantly higher into the air, allowing you to reach distant places. On top of this, the Battle Bus returned to Fortnite earlier this week.
Surfing waves just received a massive buff in Fortnite
When Chapter 7 first launched, the new surfing mechanic was visually stunning but also quite frustrating. Players felt restricted by the low launch height, which often forced them to land at a location they didn’t like. Fortunately, Epic listened to the community feedback, which is why the recent Fortnite update buffed the surfing mechanic.
The new update increases the vertical launch height of the surfing waves by 45%. This is a huge difference that allows you to glide much further across the map, opening up more drop spots that were previously unreachable.

Even though the Battle Bus has returned for 80% of matches, this change is still vital for those 20% of games where you have to surf. Thanks to this change, you can enjoy the new mechanic without being at a disadvantage.
Besides the surfing buff, Fortnite released many balance changes, drastically improving vehicles and the Self Revive Device, while nerfing the spawn rate of Shockwave Grenades.
