The arrival of Fortnite Season 11 will be delayed as Epic Games announced that the current Season 10 will run on for one more week.
In the details of the v10.40.1 patch, Epic Games stated that Season 10 will be supplied with Out of Time event, which will begin on October 8 and end on October 13. This Overtime Mission will come with objectives that award end-of-Season bonuses like XP, cosmetics, and a Loading Screen. It also means that players will be able to complete Battle Pass objectives they hadn’t gotten round to yet, and the Batman celebration will continue to be available until the end of Season 10.
No explanation was given for the extension, but if the rumours that Fortnite will be getting a unique new map are true, it could be that the team just needs a little extra time to wrap things up. The Overtime Mission tends to lead into the next Season of the game, acting as the final act of the themed event. Also, Seasons usually end in the middle of the week and not on a weekend, which is what Out of Time implies.
If Season 10 finishes on October 12, players would converge on a weekend and so the event would be enjoyed by a lot more Fortnite players than usual. It would also gain a lot of feedback for Epic Games to use, and this could be beneficial to see how a new map would be received by the community.
Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android.
