Epic Games has pushed another wave of balance adjustments to Fortnite Battle Royale in the latest update. Even though we are still in the first three weeks of Chapter 7, the game developer has already released numerous balance changes for several code modes. The latest update tweaks the effectiveness of vehicles and reduces the spawn rate of a fan-favorite item.
If you rely on Shockwave Grenades to push enemies or escape tough situations, you might need to rethink your inventory management. The drop rate of this Fortnite item has been reduced, and you might need to use one of the vehicles instead.
Fortnite nerfs Shockwave Grenades
Epic has nerfed the spawn rate of Shockwave Grenades with the recent balance update. While still available, their spawn rate has been reduced to prevent them from being too abundant. The spawn rate has been nerfed by 33%, which is quite significant.
According to Epic, the goal is to make every usage feel like a “deliberate choice.” The development team acknowledges that Shockwaves are excellent for aggressive plays and quick escapes, but they want players to be more strategic with them rather than spamming them freely.
Cars have also been affected by the latest update, as Epic buffed their boosting, but reduced their overall health. Vehicles now cosume 15% less fuel during boosts, which significantly increases their output. Unfortunately, their overall HP has been nerfed in Solo, Duos, and Trios. In Squads, vehicles only received a boosting buff.
These changes arrived shortly after the release of the Winterfest event and will be active for at least two weeks. Epic Games will go on a winter break soon, which is why the next Fortnite update is scheduled to come out in January 2026.
