Epic Games has launched Chapter 2, Season 8 for its battle royal smash Fortnite, entitled Cubed.

In the universe of Fortnite, the Aliens from last season’s Invasion event have seemingly been vanquished. However, a new deadly and more sinister foe has taken their place in the form of sentient Cubes. These Cubes are appearing around the game’s map and creating Sideway Anomalies at POIs. Stepping through one will take you to Sideways Zones, where you’ll be attacked by waves of Cube Monsters.

Defeat these, and you can earn Cube Monster Parts, which can be crafted into upgrades for Sideways weapons. These are also new in Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8 Cubed, with the Sideways Rifle and Sideways Minigun doing more damage the more you upgrade them. Other new additions include an Automatic Sniper Rifle and a Harpoon Gun.

Of course, there’s naturally a new Battle Pass too. Providing an absolute truckload of additional content, highlights include the new cartoon-styled Toona Fish. As well as him, there’s a guest appearance from Marvel villain and alien symbiote Carnage. He’s arriving just in time as he debuts in Venom 2: Let There be Carnage next month.
