Grenades have gone through numerous balance changes in Fortnite. This explosive item used to be devastating in early seasons of the game, but Epic Games reduced its effectiveness over the past few years. The nail in the coffin was a nerf that reduced Grenade’s damage from 100 to 40, making the item nearly useless.
Fortunately, the new Fortnite season brought a long-awaited buff for Grenades. The explosive item is once again strong and can deal significant damage to players, which is something the community has asked for.
Grenades have received a much-needed buff in Fortnite
When Fortnite just came out, Grenades dealt 100 damage to players and 735 damage to structures. On top of this, it was possible to carry 10 of them in a single stack. Grenades were deadly, mostly because they were quite common, and that is why Epic Games nerfed them. First, the damage to structures was reduced to 375, then the stack size was nerfed to six.
In Chapter 4, Epic drastically nerfed Grenades by nerfing player damage to only 40, while structural damage was reduced to 75. This made the explosive item nearly useless, but fortunately, this is no longer the case. With the release of Fortnite Chapter 6 – Season 2, the game developer released a much-needed buff for Grenades, making them deal 100 damage to players once again.
It’s important to note that this buff only affects the new season of the video game. The Fortnite OG mode still has the original Grenade, which deals 100 damage to players. The explosive item is also present in Fortnite Ballistic as a Frag Grenade. In this game mode, it deals 65 damage and only one player can carry it on each team.
