Fortnite has released a couple of smaller updates so far in early 2026. While the South Park update was big and brought lots of new content, Epic Games has made more changes that have not received as much attention. The latest update, which brought back the Delulu mode, drastically reduced the number of players per lobby.
Delulu is a weekend-only mode that has proximity chat, and it has become quite popular. Epic released smaller changes for it almost every week, but this time, the change was rather big.
Delulu mode in Fortnite is now limited to only 50 players
Next time you hop into Fortnite, you will notice several changes in Delulu. You now have access to new items, which will be available until Monday. However, the game size has also been limited to 50 players, which is a drastic change.
In the past, Delulu had 80 players, which seemed just perfect. Now, the social game in Fortnite mode can accommodate anywhere from 25 to 50 players. If you play in smaller regions, such as the Middle East or Oceania, there is a good chance you will only see 30-40 players per lobby, especially during off-peak hours.
Considering how much Epic Games has experimented with Delulu, this change is not surprising. While it is drastic, we will have to wait to see how players will like it. Smaller lobbies may turn the game mode even more intense, which would be fun.
80-player Delulu lobbies are the past and won’t return anytime soon. The latest Delulu session, which will conclude on Monday, will be the last session. The game mode will be removed after it, and Epic will replace it with another social-focused mode in the future.
