Fortnite just wrapped up one of its best live events Remix Finale which broke the game’s all-time concurrent player records as over 14 million users attended the live event. The show was a 20-minute encore of musical performances by Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Spice, and late rapper Juice WRLD.
The event ended with a surprise music video of one of Juice’s final songs, which was created in Fortnite’s art style. However, now as players approach Chapter 6 dropping tomorrow, Epic has made a major announcement regarding weapons in the upcoming season and it’s absolutely game-changing.
Fortnite announces the return of Hitscan weapons in Chapter 6 Season 1
In an X post by Fortnite ANZ, Epic confirmed that all Chapter 6 Season 1 weapons are Hitscan and won’t have bullet drop or travel time on the shots fired by any gun whatsoever. The post said, “For those wondering: Chapter 6 Season 1 weapons are HITSCAN! WooT!”
This means that even though all Chapter 5 weapons were projectile, after the reception of Hitscan weaponry in Chapter 2 Remix, Epic is keeping the weapons system intact and bringing back the OG Fortnite mechanic into Battle Royale.
Several users had mixed feelings as they were already used to projectile weaponry, where one wrote, “I love Hitscan but I also hate that it is easier for hackers to aimbot from further distances.” Another one chimed in, “You BETTER bring back bullet drop. You don’t want to deal with defaulting’s wrath.”
However, those who are acquainted with Hitscan weaponry right from the OG days said, “Wait what type is this again? If it is like Chapter 2, all we do is keep winning.” Another user commented, “Biggest W in the history of the game.”
While there’s obviously a divide in the community who are concerned about the skill level of players favoring Hitscan, for many Fortnite players it comes as a relief so they can focus on other gameplay elements without having to worry about calculating bullet drop in the heat of the battle.
