A Fortnite player has managed to score a victory in an unexpected fashion after managing to win a match thanks to the help of Futurama’s Bender.
In case you’re not up to date, Bender arrived as an NPC in the battle royale shooter with the game’s most recent update, and while the fan-favourite sarcastic robot has already solidified himself as a fan favourite, he also appears as an NPC wandering around the island and players can run up to him, buy some equipment from him or even hire him to act as backup. This is what one squad did, and it wound up getting the victory for their team.
In a clip posted to the Fortnite subreddit by HaniMC117, the 2-man squad is battling it out with an enemy around a house, when one of them is downed by a shotgun. It all seems bleak, until the AI NPC Bender bounds into shot and, using their ray gun (check out where to find Bender’s Ray Gun in Fortnite here) they manage to finish off the hapless foe and score the victory royale for the player’s squad.
Of course, many fellow members of the Fortnite subreddit praised Bender’s heroic efforts. “Bender the life saver!” proclaimed Master_Cicada1480. “Bender really wants that crown” adds Dependent_Buy_9641. Some though, are a little worried Bender is -too- powerful, having all the accuracy of, well, a robot. “Bender SNIPES with his laser,” points out Danisdaman12. “And he can spot people hiding and alert us to their locations. Crazy.” “Bender literally does not miss, he is super OP” claims Michael_Swag.
Whether Epic will decide to nerf Bender remains to be seen, but for now it seems if you want a hired hand that’ll help you net a Victory Royale, you could do a lot better than hiring Bender and his shiny metal backside. Elsewhere, Fortnite players are already dreaming up what the next potential dream crossover could be.
