David Gaider, the former BioWare writer, has announced that he is starting a new studio based in Melbourne, Australia, and is already working on its first game.
Gaider is best known for his work with BioWare for Baldur’s Gate, the Dragon Age series, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. In 2015, he left the Dragon Age core team to support an unannounced project, and then in 2016, he departed BioWare after almost two decades with the company. His latest venture is this new developer studio, Summerfall Studios, and he will be collaborating with former Beamdog producer and GX Australia director Liam Esler.
We're super excited to announce Summerfall Studios, a new character and narrative-driven game development studio helmed by @davidgaider and @liamesler! The studio’s first game will debut during PAX Australia next month, and is described to be an ‘illustrated character-driven adventure’. Interested parties will be afforded an exclusive preview next week if they sign up to email updates, but an extended look at the new project will be live-streamed from PAX Australia on October 11 at 1.30am BST.
It’s also cited to ‘crush your dreams and tear out your heart… in the very best way’, so it seems that Gaider and Esler are on good form to deliver a star-crossed story of anguish and love in hopeless places. Colour me intrigued.
