Former Dragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw has joined Assassin's Creed Odyssey developer Ubisoft Quebec.

Laidlaw will slip back into the role of creative director at his new position, where he'll be working on the studio's next project, whatever that may be.

'I always knew I'd go back to triple-A at some point, once I found the right team and project,' said Laidlaw. 'Spoiler: I did at Ubisoft Quebec and I'm so damn excited to finally talk about it!'

Laidlaw departed BioWare in October last year after having been with the RPG giants for 14 years. In addition to working on Dragon Age, he also cut his teeth on the likes of Jade Empire and Mass Effect, and in recent months had served as a consultant for other developers.

There's currently no word on what title Ubisoft Quebec is making next, although it might very well be the next Assassin's Creed. As well as Odyssey, Ubisoft Quebec also worked on 2015's Assassin's Creed Syndicate, notable as the last game in the series before it took a year off.

As for Dragon Age, it has been rumoured that we'll hear more about the next entry in the franchise at The Game Awards 2018 today.
