December 7 marks the date of the next Video Games Awards, the ceremony set up by Geoff Keighley to award the best and brightest games of the year, and today the nominations were revealed in which interestingly games only available on specific formats appear to have made a strong showing.

Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda: Breath of the Wild hold six nominations each, both vying for the same award in three of the categories. Not to be sniffed at either is Horizon Zero Dawn and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice who have bagged six and five nominations respectively, both PlayStation exclusives (although Hellblade is also on PC.).

In fact, all five games up for the top Game of the Year prize are all only available on one format except for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds which itself is currently only on PC but will be coming to Xbox One by the end of the year.

There are some multiformat games on the list though; Destiny 2 manages to pick up six nominations and the recent Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus picks up four nominations including one for Best Game Direction.

The full list of nominations can be found here, along with instructions on how to vote for your favourite.  Â
