Football Manager 2024 player merges game with AI to manage teams with just their voice

With Football Manager 2025 dead and buried, players are still neck-deep in FM24 until the next game in the series eventually releases. One player has decided to merge the popular management game with artificial intelligence to control their team management with only their voice.

Football Manager 2024 merged with AI

Posted online by game developer Murat Kacmaz, Football Manager 2025 has been merged with both Whisper and OpenAI’s ChatGPT to add fully functional voice commands to the game. Instead of using a mouse, the gamer can now bark orders at the game to swap out players.

In a short video demo on LinkedIn, Kacmaz showed off the voice command feature. The basic system is said to understand “natural language and make real-time lineup changes” that allows them to bench and swap out players with a simple order.

In the demo, Kacmaz used a small example where they swapped out an injured goalkeeper on FC Barcelona’s squad.

“Ter Stegen is injured, take him out,” the player ordered the game. Shortly after, the game automativally removed the injured goalkeeper, replacing him with Ignacio “Iñaki” Peña Sotorres with a simple order.

To swap out the players, the program uses Whisper to translate speech to text and the ChatGPT AI engine for processing. When combined, the game is able to recognise commands and execute them with ease.

“We can add players, removing them, swapping them,” the player explains.

Of course, all of these actions are instantly faster with a mouse and keyboard, or even a controller, but it is a great accessibility tool for players who want to play Football Manager, but cannot. It’s slow, clunky and awkward, but it does work, and it’s a much better use of AI than generating crap images and spouting biased, incorrect information at people.
