Installing the Football Manager 2023 Real Name fix is a way for managers on Football Manager 2023 (FM23) to have a more immersive and enjoyable experience playing the game.

Despite containing many real names for players, teams, and competitions, licensing issues means that FM23 has a number of clubs, competitions, leagues, and awards with fake names. The FM23 Real Name Fix Add-On is a fix you can use to overcome this issue and make the game feel more familiar.

  • Head to your FM 2023 Directory and find the 2300 folder.
  • For Steam users on Windows head to \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2023\data\database\db\2300\
  • For Steam Users On Mac head to /Users/[Username]/Library/Application/Support/Steam/steamapps/support/common/Football Manager 2023/data/database/db/2300/

  • In 2300, open the Inc folder and then open the all folder within it.
  • Delete all the files in the all folder.
  • Extract Real Name Fix and move the files – ‘FM 23 Fix’ and ‘FM 23 Club Names’ into the all folder
  • Head back to the 2300 folder to find an edt folder, open it, and then open the permanent folder
  • Locate the file named fake.edt and delete only that file
  • Go back to 2300 and look for a dbc folder, open it, and then open the permanent folder.
  • In the permanent folder, delete the following files: ‘brazil _kits.dbc’, ‘forbidden names dbc’, ‘Licensing2.dbc’, ‘Licensing2_chn.dbc’
  • After that, relaunch your Football Manager 2023 game, and you’ll find the real names and other changes in effect.

One small snag of the FM 23 real name fix is that some Brazilian teams on your existing save might still have three-letter names.

You’ll need to start a completely new save to see this fixed. If you’ve only started playing a new save, it may be a small price to pay to start over for a more recognizable game.
