With FlatOut 2 sales surpassing one million units worldwide since its release in June 2006, the series’ next-gen debut will have a lot of fans to please. FlatOut Ultimate Carnage has been rebuilt from the ground up and specifically developed to take advantage of the power of the Xbox 360.

Improvements made over the second game in the series include upping the cars racing on screen from eight to twelve, five new single-player modes, two all-new multiplayer game modes over Xbox Live, 8,000 dynamic objects per track, widescreen high-def visuals, and dynamic lighting with real-time environment mapping on all vehicles. Speaking of vehicles, each is made up of 20,000 polygons as apposed to 5,000 in FlatOut 2.

We’re also told to expect downloadable content via Xbox Live, increasing the life-span of the game beyond the content included on the game disc.

The FlatOut franchise has been incredibly successful to date with the first two games in the series both selling over one million copies around the world, so we are very excited in being able to reward the loyal FlatOut fan base with a next generation FlatOut game. FlatOut Ultimate Carnage is that game and it is undoubtedly the best FlatOut game to date,” said Ian Higgins, CEO of Empire Interactive.

FlatOut Ultimate Carnage is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 in June.
