The first alleged images of Homefront 2 have appeared online.

Homefront 2

VG247 claims that the “work-in-progress” images form part of a “promotional handout”, and appear to suggest that part of the game will be set in New York. One image, which shows a van parked down a destroyed street, appears to feature the Empire State Building in the background.

If true, the setting would mark a fresh location for the series. The first game, developed by defunct developer Kaos Studios, saw players trying to retake San Francisco from the Korean People’s Army.

Last week, Crytek said that it was “making great progress” on Homefront 2, which is expected to have been delayed following the firm’s acquisition of the IP earlier this year.

The developer has yet to formally release any assets associated with the game, and though the images appear to be concept art, they could be early screenshots of the upcoming shooter.

A release date and platforms for Homefront 2 have yet to be revealed.
