Dead Rising 3 will be set in the fictional town of Los Perdidos, California, according to a report on Siliconera.
A zombie outbreak forces Los Perdidos to go on lockdown under martial law, but lead character Rick and a group of survivors have other ideas. Rick, an orphan, is a mechanic and plans to restore a plane and escape Los Perdidos before a bomb detonates and destroys the city.
According to Siliconera, Dead Rising 3 features an undercurrent of themes about illegal immigration – another character called Red leads an underground group of “illegals,” which are infected people that aren’t registered by the government. Red’s girlfriend Annie is a runaway who is sympathetic to the infected.
Dead Rising’s evil corporation Phenotrans is at the centre of the story, with the zombie outbreak in Los Perdidos said to be a powerplay by the organisation.
News of Dead Rising 3 comes only a day after Capcom teased the sequel via a Facebook message posted by series protagonist Frank West. Strangely, Siliconera’s report doesn’t mention the photojournalist.
All money is now on a VGA reveal this weekend.
