Firewatch has outsold Campo Santo’s “wildest expectations”, the developer has said, helping to secure the company’s future for “a while” to come.

Speaking on Twitter, the developer revealed that the game “has out-sold our wildest expectations. Campo Santo is going to be around for a while and we can’t wait to make whatever is next.”

“Thank you to everyone who has made that statement possible!”

Firewatch launched on PS4 and PC earlier this month and tells the tale of Henry, a Wyoming fire lookout who begins to uncover clues about mysterious goings on within a national forest. The game was praised in our 8/10 review for its “unnerving” atmosphere and “excellent” dialogue, despite the initial performance issues on PS4.

Whatever Campo Santo has planned next, however, won’t be a sequel. “This story is done”, co-founder Sean Vanaman said just prior to the game’s release. “But I’m very excited to see what we come up with next.”
