Final Fantasy XIV Online will be returning to monthly paid services January 6 after a year of adopting a free-to-play model.
In order to avoid any unnecessary charges without the consent of players, Square Enix will suspend all Final Fantasy XIV service accounts on January 5, 2012.
For users who wish to continue playing the MMO, they are asked to renew their account and set up a payment method beginning December 16 of this year.
The game’s subscription fee has dropped from £8.99 to £6.89 per month, and will be offered at this monthly discount rate until Version 2.0 becomes available.
The next major patch, Version 2.0, is set to release next year.
The MMO went free-to-play earlier in the year after a disastrous launch, which has since been followed by many regular patches.
