Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII series – that is, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII – are joining Xbox One's backwards compatibility lineup, Microsoft announced at X018.

In addition to being playable on Microsoft's flagship console, all three of the JRPG titles will feature Xbox One X support, so they'll look even prettier than before. The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy will launch for Xbox One starting November 13.

If you need a bit of a catch up, Final Fantasy XIII originally launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in 2010. It wasn't bad, but caught a lot of flak for being a bit too linear.

Still, the game sold well enough for Square to push out a sequel, the awkwardly-titled Final Fantasy XIII-2, two years later. The trilogy was rounded off with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII in February 2014, which labelled 'a complex and enjoyable JRPG, if not a brilliant one.'

Xbox One's backwards compatibility service features over 500 Xbox 360 games to its name, and also includes 32 Xbox titles for good measure.
