Having originated on the NES back in 1987 and 1988 respectively, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II are now heading towards their fourth remake, this time on the PSP.

To celebrate the series’ 20th Anniversary, Square Enix is releasing Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition and Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition for the PSP – each will receive a graphical overhaul to resemble the SNES Final Fantasy games.

The new dungeons included in the Game Boy Advance remakes will be included, as will the monster encyclopaedia and music player. The CG intros seen in the PlayStation remakes will also make the transition o the PSP games, and fans of the series will be pleased to find a bunch of art galleries from Yoshitaka Amano.

The FFI and FFII Anniversary Editions will be released this year in Japan, but at this time there is no information on release dates for North America or Europe.
