The long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release date has finally been announced and is currently slated for February 29, 2024, according to the game’s showcase during the September 2023 PlayStation State of Play. It was also revealed towards the latter part of the teaser that the game will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 until May 29, 2024.
In addition to stating the actual launch date, the lengthy preview also exhibited plenty of the sword-slashing action and real-time combat that its predecessor popularized. Of course, it also showed off the stunning graphics and visuals that you can expect as you play through the game’s gripping story, as well as all of the familiar characters you’ll be able to encounter during your adventure, like Zack, Tifa, and the rest of the gang.
According to a statement from producer Yoshinori Kitase, the upcoming entry “will feature elements from the previous game, as well as greatly enhanced features such as the vast world map to explore and synergy abilities with party members.” Naturally, the follow-up narrative will be even more dramatic than the previous game, as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will include a melancholic scene that many diehard fans have shed a tear over.
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi also revealed that the game “embraces the concept of free exploration,” indicating that players will have even more areas and avenues to discover than before.
