With the console-exclusive releases of Final Fantasy 16 and Starfield beginning to loom large, the increasing hype surrounding both of these AAA entries is apparently making some players want to purchase the current generation platforms for Xbox and PlayStation.

Now, even though the Starfield release date is still far-off compared to FF16’s, that hasn’t stopped a handful of players from sharing their thoughts on social media about how they plan on getting the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S specifically for these games. One user named baddock89 even went on Reddit to tell the community how the Starfield Direct convinced them to get the current gen Microsoft gaming console despite the fact that they already have a PS5.

Most of the people commenting under the same thread apparently had a similar idea as one responder said that they “bought a Series X when Starfield had its first release date announced.” Over on the Final Fantasy 16 subreddit, a few users have similarly created posts and comments saying that they already ordered or bought a PS5 for FFXVI.

Of course, these aren’t the only console-exclusives that have been released for modern platforms as critically acclaimed titles like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West immediately come to mind. However, it seems that the visually stunning previews of FF16 and Bethesda’s brilliant showing of Starfield during their June showcase have been enough to convince more players of the necessity of having a current generation system at this point in time.

Only time will tell if these entries can live up to the hype, but if you want to find out firsthand, then you’ll inevitably have to buy a current gen console for yourself. If you aren’t interested in buying either of the two, though, then we suggest checking out our page on the Nvidia RTX 4060 release date instead so you can start building the gaming PC of your dreams.
