According to data released by GfK ChartTrack, Square Enix’s highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII has entered the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart at No.1, becoming the year’s fastest-selling title in the process.
With much of the pre-release chatter focussed on the inferiority of the Xbox 360 release, sales ended up more even than some would have anticipated: 54 per cent on PS3 and 46 per cent on Xbox 360 – surely justification that Square Enix made the right call in bringing the title to the Xbox 360.
Final Fantasy XIII becomes the first Final Fantasy title to claim the UK chart top spot since Final Fantasy XII back in week 8 of 2007 – the game was only released on PS2.
