A brand-new way to play is coming soon as EA reveals details on the FIFA 23 Women’s World Cup. We knew that two World Cups would feature in the game this year, and now we have the full details on what you can expect from the new mode.

Obviously you will need FIFA 23 to play the new mode, but the DLC will be free to all those who do own the game. FIFA 23 joint cover star Sam Kerr is unsurprisingly spearheading the campaign for the World Cup as it heads down under to Australia and New Zealand.

Brand-new game mode

Part of the FIFA 23 Women’s World Cup reveal was the introduction of a brand-new mode, Lead Your Country! We have seen something similar before in the 2010 South Africa World Cup game, but this mode is completely new to FIFA 23.

It is your choice whether you pick an existing player, or use your own created avatar to lead your team to glory. You will also have the option to control just your selected player, or control the whole team for those that find playing with AI frustrating!

With the introduction of Lead Your Country in FIFA 23, will we see a similar mode added to EA Sports FC 24 next season?

The EA SPORTS FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 mode will be available to play from the end of June as a free update to the game, with a variety of exciting in-game modes.

Embark on your FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 journey to lead your country as a star of the game – or as your very own custom Avatar – in the all-new Lead Your Country mode. Explore additional modes to play through the full competition with the single player Tournament Mode, or choose to pick up and play locally against friends or AI in Kick Off:

  • Lead Your Country: Put yourself at the heart of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 with a brand-new game mode that allows you to step into the boots of one specific player leading their nation to glory. Choose between a real player poised to take the tournament by storm or create your own custom Avatar in the national team of your choice to write yourself into FIFA Women’s World Cup history. As you play through the stages, you’ll have the option to control just that player or the whole national team as you lead your country all the way to the trophy.
  • Tournament Mode: Play through the authentic FIFA 23 Women’s World Cup in a single player tournament mode that allows you to write (or rewrite) the future for your nation. Choose one of the 32 qualified nations and play your way out of their true-to-life group and through the knockouts towards FIFA 23 Women’s World Cup glory.
  • Kick Off: Experience the FIFA Women’s World Cup on your terms in a match against friends locally, or against the AI, by selecting from a Group Stage or Knockout Round match and two of the 32 qualified nations.

These game modes contribute to the most immersive EA SPORTS FIFA Women’s World Cup experience ever, complete with each of the 32 qualified nations, custom stadium dressings, cinematics, match presentations, dedicated commentary, and of course, the authentic trophy to hoist at the end.
