Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have suffered a devastating pace downgrade in FIFA 23.

His alleged ratings, which may still be subject to change, were accessed when FIFA 23 was accidentally playable for some people on Xbox a month before it’s set to launch,

Xbox gamers were able to access the game for a brief period of time to those who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition, giving them access to Ultimate Team – and since then a tranche of ratings have appeared online.

The biggest shock to the system though is what has happened to 37-year-old Ronaldo.

The Manchester United sharpshooter has long been one of the fastest players in the game – but if the apparent ratings leak is anything to go by, the Portuguese has suffered a devastating blow to what is one of the most important stats in the game – dropping from 87 pace to a pretty average 81.

Ronaldo’s alleged rating has been posted on the FIFA Reddit

If this is the final rating, the striker’s power in the game will be severely limited as it further impairs his ability to go around players.

Unsurprisingly, the FIFA community were vocal with their thoughts – many voicing their concern over the downgrade. Others postulated that his price this year will go through the floor.

“Soon enough in like fifa 25 (or EA FC 25) he will be an 83-84 rated with 65 pace and 58 stamina, I’m not looking forward to those days,” one wrote.

Another wrote: “I’ll give it 2 months he will be 200kish since the shared market.”

The latter point is an interesting one. Ronaldo FIFA 22 price currently hovers around 42,000 coins but started at well over 1,000,000 – according to Futwiz data. However, with these stats downgrades we could well see Ronaldo finally becoming cheap enough for a load of other players – which would torpedo his value even more.

The pace downgrade is in line with what some media, were expecting – but is arguably more drastic than many would have hoped for.

FIFA 23 is due to arrive on September 27. If you want to play the game early, you can check out how to get early access to FIFA 23 right here.
