EA has released a new trailer for FIFA 18’s The Journey: Hunter Returns, which heralds the return of, wait for it… Alex Hunter. The minute and a half trailer shows off some of the new features making their way to this year’s iteration of the pretty decent story mode. This time around players will see Alex Hunter making a career saving move to the US. The trailer also takes us behind the scenes with some footage of FIFA 18’s star-studded cast. What’s not to like?

This time around players can customise Alex Hunter’s attire on and off the pitch, and they can even change Hunter’s hairstyle, with a number of questionable designs that’d challenge those rocked by the legendary Nigerian defender Taribo West. Hunter’s mate from The Journey in FIFA 17, Gareth Walker, returns with a thinly veiled threat for Alex, and the expanded story mode features a few well-known present and former footballers, with the likes of Dele Alli, Thierry Henry, Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo each gunning for an Oscar.

There’s something I can’t quite wrap my head around when it comes to The Journey: Hunter Returns. How does Hunter move to a North American football team, and then get a transfer to a massive European side? That’s just not realistic. Perhaps next season Alex Hunter goes to the Chinese Super League before being signed by Barcelona. That’s never happened before. Honest.

FIFA 18 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
