FIFA 15 is the odds-on favourite to be this year’s Christmas Number 1, according to UK bookmaker William Hill.

This month’s footy title currently holds 1/3 odds of securing the top spot come December 25, ahead of Destiny at 4/1.

Oddly enough Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is the bookie’s third favourite to be Christmas No.1, although we wouldn’t recommend placing a bet on that: Kojima’s latest isn’t expected to go on sale until at least 2015.

Next on the list is Assassin’s Creed: Unity at 7/1, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris at 10/1, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel at 10/1 and F1 2014 at 20/1.

Other top titles expected to perform well this Christmas, like Far Cry 4 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, are absent from the list altogether. Maybe it’s worth placing an outside bet?

“Destiny is no doubt going straight to the top of the charts this week,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly, “but its sales look likely to tail off to make way for FIFA come Christmas.”

Here’s the full list of favourites to be this year’s Christmas no.1 according to William Hill:

  • FIFA 15 – 1/3
  • Destiny – 4/1
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – 6/1
  • Assassin’s Creed: Unity – 7/1
  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris – 10/1
  • Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – 10/1
  • F1 2014 – 20/1

UPDATE: William Hill has issued a revised list claiming it was unaware that Metal Gear Solid 5 is a 2015 title. But in addition to replacing MGS5, it’s also altered the odds of almost every other title. Here’s the new list:

  • FIFA 15 – 1/4
  • Destiny – 7/2
  • Assassin’s Creed: Unity – 7/1
  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris – 9/1
  • Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – 9/1
  • Lego Batman 3 – 16/1
  • F1 2014 – 16/1
