Square Enix has announced the summer 2008 release of Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, a turn-based, tactical battle game exclusively for Nintendo DS.

The game begins when Luso, an energetic young boy, discovers a mysterious book in the library. He opens the book and is transported to another world called Ivalice and finds himself joining a clan led by a man named Cid. With the help of his new clan Luso must find his way home.

“To our fans’ delight, fun strategy gameplay and an engaging story come together in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. Nintendo DS users will be able to enjoy a tactical and epic adventure while exploring the world of Ivalice,” said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd.

We’re also promised “stunning visuals” along with an orchestral soundtrack and touch screen functionality not included in the original Japanese version.
