Polytron will release a patch for the Xbox LIVE Arcade version of Fez, creator Phil Fish has announced on Twitter.

“GOOD NEWS EVERYONE: we’re going to patch FEZ on XBLA!” he wrote.

“It’s going to take a few months, though,” he added, “but we’re doing it!”

“IT’S A 4TH OF JULY MIRACLE.”

In July 2012 a patch for Fez resulted in save file corruption for a minority of players, but because of the costly process of submitting a fixed update, Polytron and Fish decided to leave the patch as it was.

Now, with Microsoft having removed the charges related to Xbox 360 title updates, players will finally get the fix after over a year waiting.

It’s good to see Fish confirm the update is coming, despite his many issues with Microsoft.
