The First Descendant has had a pretty interesting launch. Despite critics, myself included, not being convinced by the game, the playerbase has remained strong through what could have been tough times. Thankfully, the developers Nexon have been pretty switched on with surprise hotfixes and in-games balances, and community sentiments towards the company are particularly warm. Unfortunately, fans are worried that the game is on its last legs, and it’s actually nothing to do with the developers, but rather the players themselves.
“It’ll be too late,” writes RedPanPan262 on Reddit. This was followed by an emotional diatribe lamenting how Sharen, Valby, Gley, and Bunny are all Mains nerfed by the current treatment of public servers. Essentially, the game severely favours those playing in solo or private lobbies, mostly thanks to the disorganisation, bullying, and miscommunication that dominates public.
“When all the Sharen’s start infiltrating in private due to people not letting them stealth,” or “when all the Bunny’s decide to farm in private due to being bullied,” they say, before continuing to point out all further issues that other players will likely face … “By the time you learn that [you’ve] been taking these mains for granted and ignoring them,” then it will be too late.
Slight aside. Reading through this poetic stream of pure Descendant consciousness was very entertaining, and I appluad the original poster for their emotive efforts.
Effectively, The First Descendant’s community is well aligned on the fact that public lobbies just aren’t fun, despite the fact that public matchmaking in Operation Infiltration’s was one of the most heavily anticipated features.
There are those who have responded accordingly in the comments. “As a Sharen main I’ve given up trying to explain it to everybody, private has been so nice!” Others have said – in the most polite way possible – “[For real] no disrespect to them but a day or two ago someone I was playing with didn’t let a random Sharen do her thing and it really was annoying.”
Clearly there’s a few mains which are not being given the respect they deserve, and these criticisms usually focus on the fact that the community is impatient. That’s exactly what the start of the end of is going to look for The First Descendant – players unable to allow their teammates to play how they want, and it’s going to tear the community apart.
