Far Cry 4 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 21, 2014, Ubisoft has announced.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in association with Ubisoft Red Storm, Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Kiev, Far Cry 4 takes players to Kyrat, “a breathtaking, perilous and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king.”

Players will get to use a vast array of weapons, vehicles and – yes – animals, to “write their own story across an exotic open-world landscape”.

“Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations,” said executive producer Dan Hay. “Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry® 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.”

Ubisoft says that the game will take “a new step towards the revolution of the shooter genre” with the publisher aiming for the game to be “among the top 10 best selling games of the year”.

A first look at the game will be revealed during Ubisoft’s E3 press conference next month.
