Activision has announced the first details on this autumn’s Family Guy game, Back To The Multiverse, revealing that players will get to play as Stewie and Brian in an adventure that pits them against Stewie’s evil twin, Bertram.

Inspired by one of the most popular episodes of Seth MacFarlane’s animated sitcom, ‘Road to the Multiverse’, Back To The Multiverse “turns the outrageous world of Family Guy into an action-packed video game filled with nods to the long-running comedy”, and features both co-operative and competitive multiplayer modes.

Players will get to play as sophisticated one-year old Stewie or family dog Brian as they prevent Bertram from destroying Quahog, each with their own unique skills and abilities.

Activision has signed “Family Guy talent” to write the game, too, although it’s still not clear whether Seth MacFarlane is directly involved in its production.

“Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse draws inspiration from ‘Road to the Multiverse’ – one of the most popular and notable episodes in the Emmy Award-winning series,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision.

“This episode provides an amazing backdrop for introducing Family Guy’s hilarious brand to today’s consoles.”

Family Guy: Back To The Multiverse is due for release this autumn on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
