After Sony's announcement that the PlayStation 4 will support cross-play for 'select third-party content,' but Fallout 76 won't be one of them, Bethesda's Pete Hines confirmed in a tweet yesterday.

Many thought Sony's reluctance to jump on the cross-play bandwagon was the sole reason Fallout 76 players on PC and Xbox wouldn't be able to play with their PS4 pals, and it's easy to understand why — director Todd Howard inferred as much only a few months back. Well, cool your jets, my dear, because it still isn't happening. At least for now.

'Fallout 76 does not support crossplay, for a number of reasons,' Bethesda spokesperson Hines said in his clarification on the matter where he didn't give the reasons why. 'But I assure you it is not on our radar right now as we focus on B.E.T.A. and Launch.'

Fair enough, then.

Fallout 76 is out this November, so perhaps the studio's a little too far along to react to Sony giving in to the cross-play hungry masses, but who's to say what will happen in the future? At least this means that The Elder Scrolls Legends might make the jump to Sony's box that lives under your telly. Maybe.
