Bethesda has announced that the Fallout 76 beta, which the publisher is delightfully calling B.E.T.A. (Break-It Early Test Application), begins on October 23 on Xbox One. PS4 and PC players will be able to jump on a week later, on October 30.

The beta — a 45gb download — will only be playable during 'targeted timeframes', for somewhere between four to eight hours, as Bethesda looks to put its servers under as much stress as possible prior to the game's launch the following month. According to Bethesda, 'that’s the best way to put all our systems to the test and see how they respond.'

None of these timeframes are known, as of yet, but Bethesda says it will keep everyone up to date on Twitter and via its forums. In case you don't know: only those who have pre-ordered the game will be able to jump on and attempt to break it early.

Also, everything you do in the beta will likely matter; Bethesda has said that 'our current plan is for your progress to carry over once Fallout 76 officially launches on November 14.'
