Facebook and Twitter apps have been removed from Xbox LIVE as part of the new dashboard update.

Despite making a huge fuss about the two apps when they launched for Xbox 360 late on in 2009, the social media tools are no more. Xbox 360 users are instead expected to access the services through the newly launched Internet Explorer app.

“We are retiring the Facebook and Twitter apps. Xbox LIVE subscribers will have the ability to access these sites through Internet Explorer on Xbox, available through the Web Hub located on the new dashboard,” Microsoft told Neowin.

The new Xbox 360 dashboard is rolling out to all users over the next few weeks.
