To compensate for the painful delay PSP gamers have had to endure while waiting for Snake’s first proper handheld outing to make it over from the US, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops will be filled with stacks of bonus content for UK and other PAL gamers.

Extra maps and missions will feature along with a total of 12 new characters. Character careers are being expanded too, with more of an emphasis on their key attributes like athleticism and strength.

Two bonus multiplayer maps are also being added and an entirely new game mode, intriguingly named ‘Boss Battle’, will reward players with “new recruitable characters on offing one of the game’s larger adversaries.”. That’s probably the first time “offing” has been used in a press release too, so kudos to Konami for that.

Although MGS: Portable Ops was released in the US at the end of last year, PAL gamers still have a fair while to wait until the game lands here later this year – with an April release being mooted.
