Fortnite is pretty much the biggest game on the planet right now, so it's probably no surprise to learn that developer Epic Games is now reportedly worth as much as eight billion dollars.

That's according to a report on Bloomberg, which claims that the former Gears of War developer is now worth anywhere between five and eight billion. Fortnite obviously played a large role in this, although exactly how much remains unknown.

However, Bloomberg notes that Epic Games was valued at around $825 million back in 2012, at which point 40% of the studio was snapped up by Tencent Holdings Ltd. for $330 million.

In other words, Epic's overall value has jumped as much as a staggering seven billion in the past six years or so. Zoinks!

We reported earlier this week that Fortnite iOS is apparently making around two million daily, with the console and PC versions of the game recently celebrating their one-year anniversary.

At this point, it makes you wonder why all the other battle royale games don't just admit defeat.
