Epic Games is expanding into the UK, partnering with independent developer Pitbull Studio to form a new UK branch.

Epic Games UK will be led out of Pitbull’s Sunderland headquarters, with additional offices in Guildford and Leamington Spa collaborating to assist in the development of Unreal Engine 4.

Epic has previously partnered with Pitbull on earlier projects, where it has helped develop “a wide variety” of the engine’s features and contribute to earlier titles. It could potentially be used to help develop upcoming Epic titles Fortnite and Unreal Tournament, too.

“Pitbull has been essential in helping us develop the best tools and technology for building the next generation of games,” said Epic’s founder and CEO Tim Sweeney. “They’ve been invested in UE4’s evolution since its early beginnings, and their dedication is unflinching.”

“Becoming Epic Games UK was the next logical step in our relationship with Epic,” added general manager Robert Troughton. “We’re looking forward to expanding our amazing team here in the UK.”
